The Banaue Hotel & Youth Hostel in Ifugao is set to reopen in June 2027 after a three-year renovation, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) said.

The state-owned hotel, an 81-room establishment offering accommodation and entertainment spaces, is perched atop one of the prime spots in the Cordillera, giving guests a commanding view of the Rice Terraces.

The hotel temporarily closed in April 2024 to make way for the two-phased improvement.

In an interview with select journalists this week, TIEZA Assistant Chief Operating Officer Rosanna Olgado said phase one will be unveiled in the second quarter of 2027, while phase two or the completion of the facade will come at a later date.

The renovated hotel, she said, embraces a “modern vibe” while retaining its artisanal charm that honors the centuries-old traditions of the Ifugao people.

Beyond its famed panoramic view of the Rice Terraces, Banaue Hotel is known for hosting live cultural presentations.

Banaue Hotel & Youth Hostel is one of the more than 50 properties managed and operated by TIEZA. Also undergoing rehabilitation are the Club Intramuros Golf Course in Intramuros and the 18-hole Zamboanga Golf Course in Zamboanga City.

Aside from revamping its assets, Olgado said TIEZA is also working to position Manila, Mt. Samat National Shrine in Bataan, and Corregidor Island as part of one tourism circuit, planned as the “Manila Bay Freedom Triangle.”

Mt. Samat and Corregidor Island are both TIEZA flagship tourism enterprise zones (FTEZs). (PNA)
