A regional simultaneous vaccination activity for tertiary students in Central Luzon will be conducted on Friday.

The move is in line with the national government’s goal to ensure population protection against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and at the same time, prepare students for the implementation of limited face-to-face classes.

With the theme “Mag-aaral rumesBAKUNA na. Now na! Bakunado, Protektado,” the activity will be spearheaded by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 3 (CHEDRO-3), in coordination with the Department of Health-Central Luzon (DOH-3), Department of the Interior and Local Government-3 (DILG-3), and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-3.

CHED OIC-Regional Director Maria Teresita Semana said on Thursday prioritizing the students’ safety is behind their aggressive effort to vaccinate all of those enrolled in higher education institutions (HEIs).

She encouraged students to participate in the regional simultaneous vaccination program and coordinate with their school for enlistment and endorsement to the vaccination centers.

A total of 19 HEIs across the region will serve as vaccination centers, including the Aurora State College of Technology in Aurora province; Asia Pacific College of Advanced Studies Inc. in Bataan; and the Bulacan State University, La Consolacion University, Polytechnic College of the City of Meycauayan, Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc., and Richwell College, all in Bulacan.

Also on the list are the Central Luzon State University, Nueva Ecija Doctors Colleges Inc., and Wesleyan University-Philippines in Nueva Ecija; and Holy Cross College, Guagua National Colleges, Our Lady of Fatima University-Pampanga Inc., and City College of San Fernando, all in Pampanga.

In Tarlac, designated as vaccination sites are the Tarlac Agricultural University and Tarlac State University; and Columban College Inc., Polytechnic College of Botolan, and President Ramon Magsaysay State University, all in Zambales.

Semana earlier said CHED targets to inoculate 70 percent to 80 percent of tertiary students by the end of November. (PNA)
