Born and raised in Cagayan de Oro, Meranie Gadian Rahman was crowned the 46th Mrs. Universe while representing Hawaii on October 8 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

Rahman is a queen and a mother who advocates for her fellow mothers’ well-being. She formed and became the president of the “You Are Loved Foundation for Postpartum Depression.”

Among her personal goals and achievements, it was her historical five in the Mrs. Universe pageantry that pushed her to reach the ultimate dream title of Queen Mother.

1. Achieving Great Heights In 2019

Entering multiple competitions in 2019, starting off with Mrs. Philippines World and Mrs. Global International winning both pageant grand titles.

She also joined Mrs. World International as Mrs. Guam World, reaching the Top 15, and Mrs. USA Universe, where she won second runner-up.

In the humble beginnings of her Mrs. Pageant career, it was her husband’s support that motivated her to stay in shape and trained her in all aspects.

2. Returning From The Storm In 2021 to 2022

Rahman continued her other careers, such as being a national director for Mrs. Philippines World and leading her foundation. After two years, she competed in the Mrs. World Pageant 2021.

Unable to place that year, she competed once more for 2022 but was struck with casualties from Typhoon Odette destroying the plantation in her hometown.

“My trees are called falcata trees, so lahat na-down talaga siya, I don’t want to, you know, complain or share, especially the problems, because I know already how hard the people who suffer from it are. You know, as much as I can, I want to help,” Rahman shared in her previous interview.

She had raised awareness during the competition to raise additional assistance overseas, earning a spot in the Top 15 of the 2022 Mrs. World pageant.

3. The Prestigious Coronation in 2023

History was made for both the Philippines and Hawaii as Rahman was crowned 46th Mrs. Universe 2023. Her national costume with pink flowers symbolizes the spirit of Hawaii, which was designed by a Filipino designer.

She confessed the road to the ultimate crown was a bumpy one, leaving her with the utmost pride and joy for believing in herself and those who believed in her.

“I always took my loss as a stairway to success by not giving up and by working harder toward my dream to win one of the most prestigious titles in the pageantry. Now I have won this prestigious title, Mrs. Universe, and I am the first Filipina to win in the 46-year history of Mrs. Universe. I just cannot control tears of gratitude falling from my eyes,” Rahman said in an interview with a local news outlet.

Considering this milestone of Rahman, it is proven that a woman can be a queen, mother, and advocate; it takes a lot of experience to go beyond passionately and beautifully bringing the crown.
