Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez and rising actor Alden Richards hailed as the Top Acting Honors during the virtual presentation of the 36th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies, held on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Sanchez won the Movie Actress of the Year for her exemplary performance in the film ‘Jesusa.’ Richards bagged the Movie Actor of the Year award for his role as Ethan in the movie ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye.’

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the awarding show was held virtually and streamed live on the official Facebook page of the PMPC.

Aside from the two actors, Ricky Davao was also awarded this year’s Movie Supporting Actor prize for ‘Fuccbois,’ and Maricel Laxa was named Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for ‘Hello, Love Goodbye.

Moreover, the popular movie film, ‘Hello, Love Goodbye’ took home most of the major awards as Director Cathy Garcia-Molina was proclaimed the Movie Director of the Year winner. Brillante Mendoza also won the Indie Movie Director of the Year Award for ‘Mindanao.’

The success of ‘Hello, Love Goodbye’ was seen as Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards were named Movie Loveteam of the Year.

PMPC President Roldan Castro extended his sincerest gratitude to the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Director Pete Mariano, hosts Rep. Alfred Vargas and Sanya Lopez, WEMSAP, and performers Jed Madela, Luke Mejares, and Regine Velasquez- Alcasid, for making the awards night possible.
