A municipal council session meant to review last year’s tobacco excise tax fund spending escalated into a confrontation, prompting police to step in and separate the parties involved.

Vice Mayor Jeryll Harold Respicio had pressed barangay officials to account for the funds, insisting the allocations should directly benefit the town’s tobacco farmers.
