WalterMart, SM Retail, Inc.’s Luzon-based supermarket chain, is bringing convenience closer to neighborhoods with its brand of service “with a heart” as it opens two new stores in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) for the remainder of the year.

The company recently opened its 41st store in Antipolo, Rizal and will soon open another in Bacoor, Cavite by the end of October.

WalterMart’s vision and mission is simple: to make Happy Customers, develop GREAT PEOPLE and become a GREAT COMPANY. Armed with years of strong retail experience, WalterMart is now one of the major players in the Philippine retail industry today bringing all its shoppers EVERYDAY FRESH, EVERYDAY CHOICES and EVERYDAY SAVINGS.

WalterMart also recently reopened its legacy 7,000 square meter branch in E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave., Quezon City this year, bringing back the nostalgia yet with a modern feel to the New Manila neighborhoods. This site is exactly where WalterMart started almost 30 years ago. Built in 1992 as a small community supermarket in E-Rodriguez, WalterMart started to provide Filipino families a convenient and complete shopping experience. Going back to its roots, reopening its doors to the market that it has grown to serve over the years is something that WalterMart has taken to heart, bringing back a bigger, better, modern retailing experience for all.

“We remain true to our vision of bringing the good life to more Filipino homes through strategic expansion. We aim to bring our stores closer to serve neighborhoods with our signature service excellence as people still look for trusted, convenient and safe ways to shop especially during these times,” WalterMart President Jennilyn Uy said.

WalterMart extends this service excellence not just to its shoppers but to all the communities where they are. “Our commitment to the communities and our customers is to win through malasakit (concern) from farm to market,” says Rose Caalam, General Manager of WalterMart Supermarket. “Malasakit to ensure a sustainable income for our farmers during this pandemic through different farmer groups and organization, malasakit to our customers by providing them quality and affordable fresh produce assortment, and malasakit to employees by making our proud local ambassadors of fresh and healthy products.”

Aside from physically expanding stores, WalterMart is taking a step forward towards a stronger digital presence. WalterMart is growing its online grocery format through www.waltermartdelivery.com.ph, providing customers with a more convenient way of grocery shopping.

WalterMart employees ensure to connect and get in touch with its customers whenever they shop whether in store or online. As a loyal customer of its delivery platform, Hazel Antonio-a mother of two said, “I highly recommend WalterMart. Their price is competitive compared to other supermarkets. They have a wide selection of products too. Their service is commendable because they will not force you to buy fresh items in bulk. Their staff will communicate with you if you want to buy in portions for the fresh items, and if you want to replace your items in case you forgot to add to your cart some of your essentials needs. They have very polite customer service, personal shoppers and delivery personnel.”

In September, it launched #14388 or the CallMeWally service. CallMeWally is WalterMart’s “same day pabili (to buy) and delivery “ service where people can dial in and call #14388 to order from WalterMart Supermarket & Department Store. Customers may pay via flexible payment options such as cash on delivery or pick up, GCash, Paymaya, or BDO Pay. No shopping fee and no minimum order required. On top of that CallMeWally went the extra mile by extending same day delivery to all of its customers.

This takes inspiration from The SM Store’s Call to Deliver that uses Call/Text personalized shopping blended with pick-up or delivery services to suit the customers’ preferences. To date, 23 WalterMart stores in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija are dedicated to this service with plans of rolling out to more stores in the near future.

WalterMart continues to bring its brand of excellent service with each expansion. This is shown by a higher rate of repeat purchases of 75 percent currently from new customers today compared with pre-pandemic levels.

“The way we expand is we make sure our customers have great customer experience. We make sure we deliver well,” Ms Uy said.

WalterMart Supermarket was established in 1992 and is one of the fastest growing supermarket chains today.
