No evacuee will be left behind. This is the promise of ABS-CBN as it launches the “Tulong-Tulong sa Taal” public service campaign, which aims to unite the nation in helping all Filipinos affected by the recent eruption and continuous activity of Taal Volcano.

“Tulong-Tulong sa Taal” brings together the efforts of the entire Kapamilya network for Taal evacuees, from relief operations led by Sagip Kapamilya to delivery of “Serbisyo at Saya” in evacuation centers through the help of ABS-CBN employees, artists, programs, and subsidiaries. It also has an information campaign to be led by Kuya Kim Atienza, who will give out tips on disaster preparedness to be aired on TV, radio, and digital, on top of the regular news reports and updates from ABS-CBN News.

True to its mission to be in the service of the Filipino, ABS-CBN was one of the first to arrive in evacuations centers to provide assistance to the thousands of families that were forced to flee their homes as heavy ash fall began to cover the entire Taal island and nearby towns in Batangas and Cavite last January 12.

As of Friday (January 24), 17,016 families or 85,080 individuals received relief packs, 5,403 people enjoyed hot meals from the soup kitchen, while 663 individuals were given psychological services in over a hundred evacuation centers through ABS-CBN Foundation’s humanitarian assistance arm.

Under the banner campaign of “Tulong-Tulong sa Taal,” Sagip Kapamilya’s relief operations will continue and intensify as it aims to reach as many evacuees as possible.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN also kicked off its “Serbisyo at Saya” caravans that will also visit different evacuation centers to offer medical missions, fun activities, and other useful services to help ensure the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of our displaced Kapamilyas.

Here, evacuees who are suffering from skin conditions, wounds, hypertension, pulmonary and eyesight issues, psychological trauma, and other ailments caused by the Taal eruption and the living conditions in evacuation centers will receive free medical advice, treatment, and medicine.

ABS-CBN will also be giving away free reading glasses, hygiene and laundry kits to ease the burden of the people in evacuation centers. There will also be a Tulong Center helpdesk to receive and facilitate assistance for Kapamilyas in need.

Moreover, our countrymen will feel true Kapamilya love as volunteer employees, including artists, will be there to cheer them up through fun games and a mobile soup kitchen for everyone, as well as storytelling and arts and crafts sessions for children.

Adult evacuees will also remain updated of the happenings in the country, while the kids get to catch up on their lessons as SKYcable and Knowledge Channel will setup free viewing stations on select evacuation centers.

Recently, Kapamilya programs “Salamat Dok” and “My Puhunan” also conducted public service events in evacuation centers, while Kapamilya stars have organized their own fund-raisers and distribution of relief goods to help our kababayans.

In “Tulong-Tulong sa Taal,” ABS-CBN enjoins the public to come together as a family in helping our countrymen, as even small acts of generosity and kindness by ordinary Filipinos can make a big impact. For this, the network will be launching several other efforts under the “Tulong-Tulong sa Taal” umbrella campaign where the public can participate in projects for Taal evacuees such as the Ligtas Bag drive, where people can donate cash or items for “go bags” that will be given to evacuees.

The Ligtas Bag will contain food and useful things in times of emergency. People will also be encouraged to prepare their own Ligtas Bag for themselves and their families.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Foundation is still accepting in-kind and cash donations for its Taal relief operations. For more details, follow ABS-CBN Foundation (@abscbnfoundationinc) on Facebook.
