Facebook Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg announced on Thursday the launching of the social media app’s newest update, the Feeds tab.

The platform is adding a new tab by splitting the main ‘Home’ section into two—Home and Feeds. The update aims to give users more control over the content they see and discover on Facebook.

According to his announcement post on his official Facebook account, Zuckerberg disclosed that one of the most requested updates from the app is a feature that will allow the user to see the content posted by their Facebook friends quickly and easily.

“So today, we’re launching a Feeds tab where you can see posts from your friends, groups, pages, and more separately in chronological order. The app will still open to a personalized feed on the Home tab, where our discovery engine will recommend the content we think you’ll care most about. But the Feeds tab will give you a way to customize and control your experience further,” he announced.

With the recent update, users opening Facebook will be greeted by the “Home” tab, which is the first thing you will see when you open the app. Home is the “discovery engine” where you can connect to new creators and content through recommendations. On the same tab, users will be able to access their Facebook stories and make Reels they can share.

The company boasts its AI technology that can better serve recommended content based on the user’s ranked experience in the app.

“Your Home tab is uniquely personalized to you through our machine learning ranking system. This system takes into account thousands of signals to help cut through the clutter and rank content in the order we think you will find most valuable,” says Zuckerberg on Meta.

Right beside the Home tab, users can access the newly added “Feeds” tab, where users can stay up-to-date with the people and communities they’re already connected with. The new tab provides users with easy access to the content posted by their friends and the people and groups they follow.

Feeds will appear on the shortcut bar of the app. For iOS, it will be located at the bottom, while Android users can find the tab on the top of the application. Feeds won’t contain any “Suggested For You” posts, but they will have ads like the Home tab.

The new update came just a few days after Facebook announced that users could now link up to five profiles under a single account.

“We understand you may want more options when it comes to sorting and seeing your content. There are times you might know just what you’re looking for—say, the latest posts from your groups—or you may want to encounter fresh, entertaining content,” Meta said in their statement release.

The new Facebook update is set to appear on some users’ devices on the same day as the announcement last Thursday and is expected to be available globally next week.
