From being opponents on the court, UAAP volleyball stars in Eya Laure, Ponggay Gaston, Michelle Cobb, and Rosie Rosier are joining forces in “TBH” (To Be Honest), the newest talk show on LIGA cable sports channel, iWant, TFC, and the ABS-CBN Sports YouTube channel.

In the program, student-athletes Eya, Ponggay, Michelle, and Rosie hope to inspire young modern Filipinas through fun and honest conversations about timeless and relevant topics with guest athletes. Episode one of “TBH,” which will air on June 23 at 8 am, with replays at 1 pm and 6 pm, will feature them breaking down their experiences, frustrations, and realizations during the new normal.

The quartet will be shooting episodes from the comfort of their homes as Metro Manila remains to be under community quarantine. Being indoors in the past three months, however, has not stopped them from learning and exploring.

Eya, UAAP Season 81 Rookie of the Year, has been busy with online classes for her second year as a Tourism Major in the University of Santo Tomas and has also enjoyed making vlogs. Talking about what to expect on “TBH,” she said viewers will be able to appreciate their content.

“The four of us will be able to share our experiences that people will be able to relate to and will get to see our personalities off the court,” she said.

Like her, two-time UAAP champion Michelle is interested in vlogging but has been occupied with her newfound passion for baking. De La Salle University’s prized setter, who is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences, shared that their new show also gives her another thing to look forward to these days.

“Having a show is very empowering. This is us being honest as girls, athletes, and individuals.”

Also learning new skills and enjoying family time this quarantine period is Rosie. The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons team captain recently focused her efforts, along with her team, in helping those affected by the community quarantine. Aside from her relief efforts, she hopes she can make a difference through “TBH.”

“This is a platform for us to be open and be ourselves. We’re trying to create a platform of respect,” she said.

Ponggay, meanwhile, has just graduated from the Ateneo De Manila University and is appreciating her time with family during the lockdown. The UAAP Season 81 champion, who continues to stay fit by doing home workouts, revealed that she is excited for their talk show since it allows them to speak up.

“We will be able to express our own opinions, thoughts, and ideas. We will dive into the topics that people don’t normally talk about,” shared Ponggay.

With the cancellation of UAAP Season 82 due to the global pandemic, these athletes hope to make the most out of their time and platform by discussing relatable issues in “TBH.”

Eya, Ponggay, Michelle, and Rosie are the latest athletes to crossover to hosting, joining Alyssa Valdez, Gretchen Ho, Michele Gumabao, Cherry Nunag, and many others who were groomed and trained as hosts by ABS-CBN Sports.

Don’t miss the first episode of “TBH” on June 23 at 8 am, with replays at 1 pm and 6 pm on LIGA Channel 86, and LIGA HD on Channel 183 on SKY Cable and Destiny. Catch it also on iWant, TFC, and the YouTube channel of ABS-CBN Sports.
