The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has brought legal services to the province of Tarlac to unclog and fast-track the resolution of agrarian cases.

Through its “Agrarian Reform Justice on Wheels (ARJOW),” DAR provided a two-day free legal consultation, counseling, and legal assistance to agrarian reform beneficiaries and other residents in San Jose, Tarlac.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Jocelyn O. Ramones said on Thursday 133 farmer-beneficiaries, farmworkers, tenants, and landowners attended the two-day activities held from June 28 to 29 in the villages of Mababanaba and Moriones, both in San Jose.

“The DAR Legal Affairs Division held free legal consultations, counseling, and legal services to help them resolve their problems, issues, and concerns involving lands and other agrarian reform-related cases,” Ramones said in social media post.

She added that the DAR legal experts and lawyers discussed the rights and obligations of farmer-beneficiaries and focused on topics like arbitration and mediation to reduce conflicts developing into court cases.

“The ARJOW is part of the zero backlog case policy initiated by the DAR Legal Affairs Office to provide social justice to the farmers in the country,” Ramones said.

The activities also saw the organization and reorientation of the Barangay Agrarian Reform Committees (BARC). (PNA)
