K-Pop Dominates Fashion Industry; Idols Become Global Ambassadors

Aside from taking over the world with their music, K-pop idols and stars are also dominating the fashion industry as some of them become luxury brand ambassadors, being invited to different fashion shows all over the world.

K-pop idols are known for their unique comeback concepts. They differ from hairstyles, luxurious accessories, and extravagant clothes. Hence, the partnership between certain idols and luxury brands seem like a perfect match. Below are the names of K-pop idols who not only became global ambassadors of luxury brands but also cemented their names in the fashion industry.

1. Blackpink Lisa for Celine

Lisa is currently the most followed K-pop idol on Instagram, and her influence cannot be denied. She can greatly influence trends, even just by showing up. Her luxury brand journey started with Celine in 2019, and she became the face of Celine Haute Parfumerie in 2021.

Recently, she stunned the world as she did a runaway with Celine 14 Women’s Winter 22. Celine is known for its sophistication and elegance, which perfectly fits with the K-pop queen, Lisa.

2. Blackpink Jisoo for Dior

Perfectly encapsulating Dior’s contemporary femininity, Jisoo was named as the global ambassador for fashion and beauty for the luxury brand.

She then became a key inspiration for the creation of the Dior Fall 21 Collection. She graced the Dior Womenswear Spring-Summer 2022 Show in a white dress embroidered with ancient Greek motifs from the Cruise Collection. Her presence during the event garnered the largest crowd ever in Paris Fashion Week history. She also attended several shows with Dior.

Recently, she was able to bring back the Dior presence in Korea by becoming a key influence in the Dior SS22 campaign in Seoul, Korea.

3. Blackpink Jennie for Chanel

Coined as the Human Chanel due to her loyalty to the luxury brand, Kim Jennie started as a House Ambassador for Chanel in 2019 and later became the face of Chanel’s global campaign Coco Neige 21/22 collection.

She also attended Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection event during Paris Fashion Week, wearing Chanel’s signature tweed set in red with a V-neck sleeveless crop top and a mini skirt showing off her slim waist. She also made her appearance at the Chanel Womenswear Fall-Winter 2022 show, rocking a monochrome look with the combo of lace, bow socks, and black open-toe pumps.

4. Blackpink Rosé for YSL

With her sharp, slender, and androgynous look, Rosé became the global ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent. She became one of the hottest topics during the YSL Spring-Summer collection fashion show. She has been featured in different YSL campaigns and attended several fashion shows under the brand. She also became one of the first K-pop idols to attend the Met Gala.

5. BTS for Louis Vuitton

One of the 2021 most iconic collaborations was with none other than BTS x Louis Vuitton. The luxury brand managed to bring BTS as their global ambassadors, despite the group’s choice to not accept any sponsorship. The members also wore the luxury brand’s outfits during the 2021 Grammy Awards. They also made their first runway appearance in the virtual fashion film featuring LV’s Fall-Winter menswear collection 2021.

6. EXO Kai for Gucci

Known as the idol of idols and a fashion trendsetter in K-pop, Kai has been the Gucci global ambassador since 2019. Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michel, introduced the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear accessories. He also appeared in Gucci’s Aria collection, where he sported several fashion items.

Kai has been spotted at Gucci Fashion Week several times during Paris and Milan Fashion Week. He also had the most anticipated collaboration with the brand in the Kai x Gucci capsule collection. The collection presents a broad selection of shoes, accessories, and ready-to-wear with the vintage-looking bear with a blue bow tie as an accent.

7. ASTRO Cha Eunwoo for Burberry

Cha Eunwoo has been well known for his perfect visuals, as if he jumped out of a Manhwa. Perfectly pulling off the newest collections of Burberry with bold art prints and modern silhouettes, Eunwoo has been selected as their global ambassador. Burberry’s TB monogram collection is his first project as the luxury brand’s global ambassador.

K-pop is indeed slowly dominating every fashion industry in the world. With their immense and godly visuals, they are about to claim their global supremacy, and we surely can’t get enough of them.
