We tend to immediately associate Valentine’s Day with flowers, chocolates, and going to dates with a significant other. However, in case you missed the memo, Valentine’s Day is not really an exclusive celebration for lovers. There are, after all, many other kinds of love to be celebrated, including love for friends.
Recently, the terms Galentine’s and Palentine’s have been popularized. Women would call their hang outs on February 14 Galentine’s, replacing ‘Val’ with ‘gal’, a word that is synonymous to ‘girl’. Palentine’s is more gender-inclusive, using the word ‘pal’ instead. The words Galentine’s and Palentine’s promote the idea that we do not have to be in a romantic relationship to celebrate love.
Thinking of ways to celebrate Palentine’s Day? Here are ten activities you and your friends might enjoy:
1. Have a pamper day
Who says you need a partner to be your best self? Book a massage, a mani-pedi, and/or a salon appointment and feel beautiful with your pals. A Korean sauna or jjimjilbang may be something you have not done before. If you are on a budget, you can also organize a pamper day at home by preparing face masks, foot scrubs, and nail polishes.
