Last April 4, Sam Smith showed a body positive attitude towards himself by posting a picture in his Instagram with a message about him deciding to take a ‘Naked Day’.
It is a picture of him, half-naked, with the message “For my entire life I have always hated being naked. Today, I decided to have a naked day and spend the day in my room and watch TV and read and eat what I want and just celebrate this bod. It has been so empowering and wonderful and f**king fun. I think everyone should have a naked day once in a while and celebrate that beautiful human body of yours. Let it all hang out people.”
The 26-year-old singer said in an interview that he already had problems with his insecurities since he can remember. He was 8 when he became aware of his insecurities, he got self-conscious whenever they were in swimming class because they were required to take off their shirts and just swim in their trunks. He also experienced bullying and was also humiliated by boys his age. He decided the these issues of him, these insecurities, must be fought now. Which is why he decided to step up and deliver this message to his fans. See what more issues they have tackled about in this interview:
He came out to his parents when he was 10 years old and was lucky about his parents because they were understanding and supportive of him. He is now an artist fighting against what was burdening him for so long and inspires others, especially those men who often do not talk about their issues with their bodies to fight against it and learn to love the body they are in.
