Rami Malek bags the Best Actor in a Leading Role award last Sunday, February 25, for his portrayal of Queen’s Freddie Mercury in the triumphant musical “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Rami has been in the entertainment industry for 15 years and his role in the film was his biggest project yet. He has also won an Emmy award in 2016 for playing the role of a socially awkward hacker, Elliot Anderson in the TV series “Mr. Robot”.

In his acceptance speech, he included a brief message about his character in the movie, “We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant, who lived his life just unapologetically himself. The fact that I’m celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we’re longing for stories like this.” he said.

Malek also shared a little bit about his history saying, “I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, a first-generation American. And part of my story is being written right now. And I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you, and everyone who believed in me for this moment. It’s something I will treasure for the rest of my life.”

While he was going down after the telecast, Malek fell off the stage with his award still in his arms. Fortunately, he was not injured. He was taken care of by the EMT and one source said that the Academy even placed orange cones along the stage to secure that no one will meet the same fate as Malek did.

Another quirky event that happened in the awards night was that many artists have tried to straighten Malek’s tie. But when the time came for him to walk up to the stage, we can see that his tie, as resilient as it is, remain crooked.

These little issues did not stop Malek from celebrating, he even opened a bottle of champagne in the engraving room of the Oscars to commemorate his celebration.

Rami Malek is reportedly in his ‘final negotiations’ with performing in the upcoming James Bond movie, Bond 25, as the antagonist. Sources say that he will be playing the lead villain in the new film which is also presumed as Daniel Craig’s last movie to be playing as James Bond. The organization of the production is said to begin this April and the movie is reported to be launched by April of 2020.
