New York Asian Film Festival 2018 Features 6 Filipino Films

The 17th year of the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) and this year’s lineup consists of six fresh Filipino films to be screened until July 15, 2018.

With the largest Philippine lineup since 2013, NYAFF has been a venue for Filipinos to showcase not only their talents in film making, but also their stories, beliefs, and struggles to the American audience.

These competing films include Treb Monteras’ Respeto, Mikhail Red’s Neomanila, Erik Matti’s BuyBust, Irene Villamor’s Sid & Aya (Not a Love Story), Richard Somes’ We Will Not Die Tonight, and Erik Matti’s On the Job.

Meanwhile, Respeto, On the Job, and Neomanila, tackling the country’s drug war, have already garnered nominations and awards in the country and from other countries.

Sid & Aya (Not a Love Story), which was first screened last May 30, gained positive feedback in the country.

NYAFF continues to be a film event to watch out for, especially for Filipinos.
