Gabriela Palma of Brazil was the first runner-up, Melania Gonzales of Costa Rica wins second runner-up, Misheelt Narmandakh of Mongolia wins third runner-up, and fourth runner-up was Mariani Angarita of Venezuela.

Sharifa was the 5th Filipina to bring home the Miss Asia Pacific International crown.

During the question and answer portion, Sharifa was asked “What do you think is the biggest issue of diversity that the world is facing today and how do you think you can play a part to resolve it?” to which she said “One of the biggest issue in our country is cyber bullying.”

“We have to accept the fact that all of us were born with strength and weaknesses and with that, we have our own imperfections. Let’s appreciate one uniqueness and relevance and, as a millennial, I believe the millennial policy of compassion, idealism, striving for uniqueness and authenticity because you are a beautiful creation of God no matter who you are and wherever you are in the world.”

Although she only had little time in preparation for the pageant, it was fascinating how she elegantly ended her answer with “Beauty is indeed diverse and it is visible to all of us.” She just became the official PH representative last September 16.

Congratulations, Sharifa!
