Manila representative Karen Ibasco was crowned as this year’s Miss Philippines-Earth after competing among 39 other aspirants on July 15 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.

This 26-year-old University of Sto. Tomas medical physicist received the crown from predecessor Loren Artajos who took the place of resigned 2016 Miss Philippines-Earth Imelda Schweighart after facing numerous issues in November 2016.

Other four candidates who won 2017 Miss Philippines-Fire, Miss Philippines-Water, Miss Philippines-Air, and Miss Philippines-Eco-Tourism were Misamis Oriental’s Nellza Bautista, Caloocan City’s Jessica Marasigan, Olongapo City’s Kim De Guzman, and Batangas’ Vanessa Mae Castillo, respectively.

As of press time, Ibasco is now preparing for the upcoming competition as she will vie for 2017 Miss Earth to represent the Philippines on November.

On her Instagram account, Ibasco heartfully thanked her supporters assuring them that she will give her 110% in representing our country in the international stage.

Before Ibasco won the 2017 Miss Philippines Earth title, she also joined the Binibining Pilipinas Beauty Pageant last year but failed to get the title.
