Throughout the years, Disney has put up quite good films, from the classics to the present. Disney is never going to back down with just the animated shows.

Past announcements had Aladdin, Dumbo, and The Lion King to have their live-action film. New to the exciting list of remakes is the 1996 classic animated film, Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is being adapted into a musical film, entitled Hunchback.

The musical is said to draw inspiration from both the animated film and the original Victor Hugo novel which was first published in 1831, and will be written by Tony-award winning playwright, David Henry Wang. Joining him in the works are Alan Menken (Wicked) and Stephen Schwartz (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) who are set to compose the music for the film.

Mendeville Films will produce the film, along with Frozen’s Josh Gad. Although there are still no official casting announced, it is rumored that co-producer Josh Gad will play Hunchback.
