After breaking ground with the launch of Mindanao-wide local newscast One Mindanao last year, broadcast giant GMA Network, through its regional arm GMA Regional TV, makes history once again—this time, pioneering a Hiligaynon news program One Western Visayas.
Airing weekdays at 5 p.m. beginning August 27, the 30-minute newscast will be produced in GMA TV-6 Iloilo with simultaneous broadcast on GMA TV-6 Guimaras and via satellite on GMA TV-13 Bacolod, TV-10 Sipalay, TV-5 Roxas, TV-2 Kalibo, and TV-7 Tablas.
“With Balitang Amianan consistently leading in North Central Luzon, Balitang Bisdak already winning in Central and Eastern Visayas, and after the successful one-year run of our unified local newscast One Mindanao, we are proud to launch our 4th groundbreaking regional news program, this time in Western Visayas,” says GMA Regional TV Vice President and Head Oliver Amoroso.
One Western Visayas will deliver comprehensive and in-depth delivery of news and information in Western Visayas—all tailored fit to the needs and demands of thocal TV audience.
The Kapuso newscast is anchored by Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna. He will be joined by Bacolod co-anchor and correspondent Adrian Prietos, and Iloilo co-anchor Kaitlene Rivilla. Completing the team is the network of stringers across Western Visayas.
“With the full support of the Kapuso Network especially by our Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon, and President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., GMA Regional TV is committed to produce regional programs that are attuned to stories, voices, and viewership outside of Metro Manila,” explains Amoroso, who underscores that having access to local news is as important as being well-informed about national news.
“In an age when more and more people clamor for local news, GMA Regional TV remains firm on its belief that access to local news on free TV is a great equalizer. Local news plays an important role. While national reports on a wider scope, it is the local stories that directly affect families and immediate communities,” he adds.
“We are very excited about One Western Visayas,” shares GMA Western Visayas Station Manager Jonathan Cabillon. “We prepared long and hard for this and finally it’s here—the first and only unified local newscast in Hiligaynon. One Western Visayas aims to serve the needs of our Kapuso viewers in Region 6 as the primary source of news, information, and public service in the entire Western Visayas,” he adds.
Expect One Western Visayas to deliver news and information as only GMA Network—widely regarded as the most respected and internationally-awarded Philippine broadcast network—can deliver. Catch One Western Visayas, weekdays, 5 pm on various GMA channels across Western Visayas.
