If you live in the big city, you might have heard about the prime New York fitness membership that ranges from $180 to $240 a month. It’s arguably one of the swankiest gyms with clubs all over America. On top of the steep cost, initiation fee to join can surely dent your pocket at $300 to $500 depending on the club. Many celebrities have signed up for an Equinox membership, which currently owns the famed SoulCycle – an indoor spinning class that influencers and fitness junkies alike, frequent.

But if you’ve seen recent news, apparently, people have decided to boycott the two institutions because the owner, Stephen Ross, is hosting a fundraiser for Donald Trump’s reelection campaign and is using his Hamptons mansion as the venue for the event. If you’re one of his supporters and would like to take part in this unique fundraiser, it will set you back between $5600-$250,000 to secure a spot. This, however, does not bode well with its patrons as many claim that they do not want to be affiliated with an institution that supports Trump and his ideals.

Chrissy Teigan has openly shared her decision to cancel her Equinox membership, saying that she refuses to spend her hard-earned money on a brand run by people (ahem, Ross) who champion Donald Trump. SoulCycle and Equinox take pride in the capitalism of unrealistic beauty standards and exclusivity. It really doesn’t come as a surprise that its owner is a Trump advocate. Chrissy has encouraged her fans to “meet [her] in the library and bring weights” instead of heading to Equinox clubs.

And apparently a considerable number have tried to get their Equinox membership retracted. Even Billy Eichner has joined the boycott.

Equinox has since posted a reply to all the allegations made against the brand. “As consistent with our policies, no company profits are used to fund politicians. We are committed to all our members and the communities we live in. We believe in tolerance and equality and will always stay true to those values. Mr. Ross is a passive investor and is not involved in the management of either business.”

Whatever the case, passive investor or not, Ross who is a major player of the company earns his money when the company makes money. Even gay Twitter has spoken.
For now, Equinox is canceled.
